New TU website

This page explains all the necessary steps from preparation and creation of the pages to the online launch of your new website at the TU.

Preparations for a new website

You should clarify the following questions in advance in order to optimally prepare for the realisation and launch of your website:

  • Who is the main contact person in the department (Dean's Office) for the department's central website?
  • Who is the main responsible person for your new website? Who is responsible for the old one, if there was one before?
  • Which web addresses are common in the department (check with the domain representative (opens in new tab) if necessary)?
Please also note the regulations of the web team, which you can find next to the application form.
  • Outline your menu structure and follow any department specifications.

Once you have completed your preparations, please use this form to submit your application.

Once you have received the information that your section has been set up in FirstSpirit, start designing your website according to your needs.

Our documented collection of knowledge under “Hilfe” (German only) will assist you with this.

Some tips:

  • If other people are involved in editing your website, it is essential to apply for the necessary editor authorisations for them.
  • If you have any questions about using FirstSpirit, you will find instructions, answers to frequently asked questions, descriptions of the templates available to you and much more information in our “Hilfe” (German only).
  • To support beginners in particular, we offer free learning resources (German only).

After you have designed your website according to your ideas, please request a quality assurance via our contact form (“Approval & online publication”).

Please check your website in advance with this checklist (German only).

The central online editorial team (SCC) will now carry out the final approval. You will receive a detailed description of suggestions for improvement, which you will incorporate in the next step. If no improvements are necessary, this is skipped.

With the help of this approval process, we would like to ensure the quality of the websites at TU Darmstadt and support you in presenting a good impression to the public.

As soon as you have revised your web pages, your website is ready to go online.

This process does not require a separate application, as it is carried out automatically following quality assurance.

In this step, your website will be completely approved by us and launched online for the first time. From this point onwards, your website will be accessible to all users on the World Wide Web at the address you have requested. You will then receive an e-mail from us.

Please allow at least 3-7 working days for the online publication. We reserve the right to extend the processing time for larger projects.

Website online – what now?

As soon as you make further changes to your website and save and release them, these changes are transferred to the live server at regular intervals (generating ; German only).
